Question 1

What exactly is NIL and why does it matter?

Accepted Answer

NIL stands for Name, Image, and Likeness — it's the right for student athletes to earn money from their personal brand. Since 2021, NCAA athletes can sign sponsorship deals, do paid appearances, and monetize social media. It matters because it's real income — and with income comes taxes, contracts, and financial decisions.

Question 2

Do I need to pay taxes on my NIL earnings?

Accepted Answer

Yes. NIL income is taxable. Whether it's cash, gifts, or even free products above a certain value, the IRS considers it income. Offseason Finance helps you understand your tax obligations, estimate what you owe, and set money aside so you're never caught off guard.

Question 3

Is Offseason Finance free?

Accepted Answer

We offer a free tier that includes basic earnings tracking and financial literacy content. Our Pro plan unlocks contract review, tax planning, compliance alerts, and personalized financial guidance — all built specifically for student athletes.

Question 4

Will this affect my NCAA eligibility?

Accepted Answer

No. Offseason Finance is a financial education and management tool — it does not act as an agent or negotiate deals on your behalf. Our compliance features actually help you stay within NCAA rules.

Question 5

What sports do you support?

Accepted Answer

We currently work with athletes across ten different sports, including football, basketball, soccer, swimming, track & field, and more. NIL opportunities exist across every sport and our tools are built to support any athlete navigating NIL.
